Hello, my name is Michelle and i want to welcome you to Athena Counselling, i am really pleased you are here! Athena counselling is a safe space for you to explore the issues that are affecting you and is tailored to your needs. In a world that can feel harsh and isolating, Athena is a caring, warm and non-judgmental space in which you can be authentically you and explore the things that matter.

How can i help?

I'm going to assume that life is feeling pretty overwhelming right now? Maybe you've had a traumatic past, maybe the thought of dragging yourself through yet another day feels like travelling up Niagra Falls in a leaky row boat with nothing but a spoon for a paddle (trust me, i've been there!). Do you find you are short tempered, lashing out at those closest to you? Or maybe you have this inner critical voice that just won't give you a break for a second? Maybe, there is a part of you that feels like everyone would be better off if you were just not here anymore? (Which, by the way, isn't true, but it can sure as hell feel like it!) Or perhaps every day you wake up hating yourself and this version of you that exists, wondering how you ended up here in this moment? Maybe it's none of the above, but you simply need a space where you can talk to someone that is not going to judge you, someone who gives you space to just be you without 'helpful' suggestions or biased opinions on what they think you should do?

Well, you've come to the right place! Counselling here with me is an open, non-judgmental and above all safe space for you to be able to explore the issues you are experiencing with a warm, caring and relaxed atmosphere. Here the work is tailored to you and your needs, it is collaborative and i will regularly check in with you to make sure you are getting what you need from therapy. I want whats best for everyone that comes to see me - even if that is not me! It is vital that you get on with your therapist (it's the second most important factor in successful therapeutic outcomes behind your willingness to do the work!).
